Faculty With Biometric Expertise Joins EECS Department

Sumaiya Shomaji, assistant professor of electrical engineering and computer science, joined the department in fall 2022. Shomaji earned her  Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Florida in 2021. Shomaji's research is focused on biometric authentication and biomedical applications.  By leveraging her expertise in the interdisciplinary field of machine learning, computer vision, and data structures, she aims to solve the emerging problems in various domains of IoT, especially human authentication and healthcare.
