EECS Department Hires Five New Faculty
Mohammad Alian (Ph.D., ECE Department, University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, 2020). Dr. Alian's research explores opportunities in the intersection of computer architecture and networking to build efficient data centers. His goal is to unlock the potential of near-data processing to reduce data movement in large-scale computer systems by re-thinking their hardware and software architectures.
Tamzidul Hoque (Ph.D., Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Florida, 2020). Dr. Hoque's research interest is focused on hardware security and trust with emphasis on trust verification of hardware, IP protection, and side-channel attacks. My goal is to establish hardware security as a strong research thrust within KU EECS.
Patrick McCormick (Ph.D., University of Kansas, 2018). Dr. McCormick is interested in the design and optimization of RF signals, electromagnetic validation, and digital signal processing techniques for optimal detection and estimation.
Hongyang Sun (Ph.D., CS, Nanyang Technological University, 2011). Dr. Sun's area of research is in high-performance computing (HPC), cloud/edge computing, and computational data science, with the goal of advancing next-generation computing and software infrastructures through scalable algorithm design, performance optimization, and applied machine learning.
Zijun Yao (Ph.D., Information Technology from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey, 2018). His research interests include data mining and its broad application including but not limited to health informatics, mobile intelligence, and natural language processing.
