Student Spotlight: Abir Haque (B.S. CS '25) Wins Outstanding Paper Award at IEEE HPEC Conference
We are thrilled to announce the outstanding achievement of Abir Haque (B.S. Computer Science, May 2025). Last week, Haque presented his undergraduate honors research at the prestigious 29th Annual IEEE High Performance Extreme Computing (HPEC) Virtual Conference. His talk, titled "GPU-Accelerated, Mixed Precision GMRES(m) with Varied Restarts," was based on a paper for which he received an Outstanding Student Paper Award.
The paper was co-authored with his advisor, Professor Suzanne Shontz from EECS, and Professor Xuemin Tu from the KU Department of Mathematics. What makes Abir's accomplishment particularly remarkable is that he independently conducted all the research and authored the paper himself.
Haque's success highlights the exceptional research opportunities and talent cultivated within our department. Please join us in congratulating him on this well-deserved recognition!
