EECS RECEIVES NSF FUNDING FOR ENERGY EFFICIENT INTEGRATED CIRCUIT DESIGN RESEARCH
Dr. Yang Yi, Assistant Professor in EECS, has received support from Natioanl Science Foundation (NSF) for her research on energy efficient three-dimensional integrated circuit design and analysis. Intel Research and NVidia are collaborating with Dr. Yi in this research. Dr. Yi is serving as the sole principal investigator (PI) of this project. She and her students will conduct research to address the fundamental scientific issues and advanced design challenges of the three-dimensional millimeter-wave integrated circuits capable of handling very wide system bandwidth required for emerging communication systems. The outcome of the research will facilitate further advances in three-dimensional integration and wider adoption of this emerging technology in semiconductor manufacturing and electronic design community by offering fundamental understandings in the circuit design for beyond ultra-high frequency band wireless communications.
