McEnaney Named Academic Adviser for New BSIT Degree

Lauren McEnaney is the adviser for the new Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BSIT) degree at the Edwards Campus. She will recruit and advise prospective students as well as support and advise current BSIT students. 

The BSIT degree program is designed for community college students, working adults seeking higher education during evenings, and professionals seeking to enhance and upgrade their technical knowledge. The BSIT program is a collaborative effort with Johnson County Community College (JCCC). Students can obtain their associate’s degree in IT at JCCC before earning their BSIT degree at the Edwards Campus.

“I am very excited to be involved in the implementation of a new program,” said McEnaney. “We have had nearly 100 inquiries into the program to date and are getting more every day.  We have a great opportunity to serve the workforce needs of Johnson County, the State of Kansas, and the Kansas City Metro Area. “

McEnaney is looking forward to continuing to build strong relationship with colleagues at Johnson County Community College and establishing links to Kansas City Kansas Community College and Metropolitan Community College.

Before joining the BSIT program, McEnaney was a graduation adviser in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS) for five years.  Her primary role was to advise and certify CLAS students for graduation. In addition to her primary duties, she was an instructor for an academic success seminar, promoted CLAS in outreach events, and coordinated transfer orientation for CLAS students. 

McEnaney is working on a master’s degree in Global and International Studies from KU. She graduated with a BA in International Studies from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

A Kansas City, Mo, native, she now lives in Lenexa with her husband, an electrical engineering graduate, and their rescue Scottish terrier.
