EECS Student Chapter of ACM Hosts Hackathon

The 2019 HackKU event, hosted by the KU chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery, was the most successful in the event's history and was the largest student hackathon in Kansas this year. More than 230 students came from all over North America to build interesting "Social Good"-themed projects, develop new skills and network with the event's sponsors.

This year, the event was a Major League Hacking sanctioned event. HackKU was sponsored by several companies, including: Google, Garmin, Cerner, Microsoft, Koch Industries, H&R Block, Tradebot and GitHub. The results from each coding team were judged by industry representatives and EECS faculty.  There were over $9,000 in prizes including, an Oculus Go, GoPro Drone and Raspberry Pis.
