Lei Shi, an electrical engineering doctoral student, is developing a miniature radar system that will help small, unmanned aerial vehicles — UAVs — sense what’s around them and avoid collisions. Lei Shi can be seen on two billboards along Interstate 70 between Lawrence and Kansas City highlighting innovations derived from KU research. Lei Shi has launched a startup, UAVradars LLC, with the help of the KU catalyst student business incubator program, and received a NASA Small Business Innovation Research Grant through KU’s SBIR Assistance Program. EECS Students Sweep Senior-Level KU Math Prize Competition

EECS Students Compete in the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition.

In February 2015, the KU Information Security Club, took a team of 8 members, a.k.a. the JayHackers, to the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition (RMCCDC) in Denver.
